Description

A medium roast with a sweet milk chocolatey flavour with hints of orange and golden syrup.

Not all decafs are created equal! Most supermarkets use a process called Swiss Water to remove the caffeine from the coffee beans.  This high-end decaf uses a Sugar Cane Process.  Curious at the difference?

The Swiss Water Process uses water to extract caffeine from coffee beans, relying on osmosis and activated carbon to filter out caffeine, leaving the flavour mostly intact. It's chemical-free but can sometimes result in a slightly milder flavour profile.

Whereas the Sugar Cane Process (often called the Ethyl Acetate Process) uses sugar cane-derived ethanol to remove caffeine. It's also chemical-free but tends to preserve the coffee's flavour better due to a more efficient caffeine extraction method.

Sugar Cane is often considered the best method because it typically results in a more vibrant, flavourful cup while maintaining a natural decaffeination process, as it’s more effective at preserving the coffee’s integrity.

The green beans are sourced from a collective of small farms in Columbia.  Once they have been processed, they are shipped to the UK before being sent to the roastery, where we roast them in small batches for optimal flavour.

Choose between whole bean or ground coffee.

Why Medium Roast?

We’ve carefully chosen a medium roast for DELTA CHARLIE to bring out the best in every bean. This roasting level strikes the perfect balance, highlighting the natural flavours of our Latin American beans while adding a touch of warmth and sweetness.  A profile that’s rich without being overpowering and naturally sweet without the added bitterness a darker roast produces.
